Chairman, Sindh Board of Revenue, Mr.Khalid Mehmood, visited SITE Association of Industry on Thursday, 21^st February 2019 at 3:00 P.M. to discuss Members issues related to SRB, particularly the notices of SWWF. The following were present in the meeting.

The meeting started with recitation from The Holy Quran by Mr.Farhan Ashrafi.

President Mr.Saleem Parekh welcomed the Chief Guest and his colleagues to the Association and drew his attention towards issues being faced by Members of the Association related to SRB, particularly the notices being issued for payment of Sindh Workers Welfare Fund (SWWF) under Sindh Workers Welfare Fund Act 2014.

He appreciated the continuity of head of SRB and remarked that Mr.Khalid Mehmood, Chairman SRB, has been able to make significant improvement in SRB working. The Sindh Government should learn the benefits of continuity in important departments from this case.

Giving details about WWF payment, Mr.Parekh said that industries were paying WWF to federal government which was adjustable against Income Tax refunds and it is big relief for the industries. In fact it is a matter of understanding between FBR and SRB and we understand that SRB should get this money from FBR. On the lines of Federal Government, the SRB should also facilitate the export sector, particularly the zero-rated sectors by allowing similar benefits to exporting industries. At this, Mr.Motiwala added that payment of SWWF is not an issue but adjustment against income tax refunds is important for which SRB should find a solution with FBR.

Mr.Khalid Mehmood informed that some cases related to WWF are already sub judice in the Supreme Court of Pakistan. A meeting of Tax authorities of all 4 provinces is scheduled next week at which ‘’we will try to highlight this issue’’, he said.

On the suggestion of Mr.Motiwala to add one line in Income Tax Form for WWF adjustment, Mr.Khalid Mahmood responded that Mr.Motiwala should facilitate SRB by arranging a meeting with Minister of State for Revenue Mr.Muhammad Hammad Azhar who understands business matters very well.
